GOURMET WATER

We all know the smell of swimming pool: the smell of chlorine. Our mains water, which we use to prepare meals and also drink, is often full of chlorine.

Although in some countries, whose national water supply is scientifically treated at the reservoirs and meets the Drinking Water Guidelines set by the WHO, it gets contaminated by dirt particles, rust, slime and bacteria picked up from the long pipelines of the water works to your house and other chemicals which can only be removed using a great deal of time and money.

Not only do passionate coffee and tea drinkers know that the water used to prepare a cup of tea or coffee has a great influence on their final result, any disruptive tastes in the mains water will ruin the enjoyment of a cup of tea or coffee. And this does not just depend on the hardness of the water.

Thus, the quality of water has a great influence on taste.

Information about Water. (extract from Waters of Life  by  Callum Coats )

Water, contrary to current concepts, is not the inert liquid commonly referred to as H20.

Long-term, such pure water is poisonous to all living things, as its constant consumption quickly leaches out their vital store of minerals and trace elements, debilitating and ultimately destroying them. Chronic dehydration is now endemic amongst the inhabitants of the so called civilized world.

Due to the bad taste, odour and poor quality of water generally available, we have increasingly turned to diuretics, such as tea and coffee, to quench our thirst. These beverages, as 20 years research shows, actually reduce the body’s water level, by stimulating the expulsion of more liquid than is consumed, thus promoting dehydration.

Although the chlorination of drinking and household water- supplies ostensibly disinfects it and removes the threat of water borne diseases, it does so to the determent of the consumer.

As a water sterilizer or disinfectant , chlorine eradicates all types of bacteria, beneficial and harmful alike so that, while free of every possible organism, the water that we receive has been sterilized to death.

Recent studies have found that chlorination produces by-products that cause 18% of rectal cancers and 9% bladder cancers, where as fluoridation has been linked to a rare form of bone cancer.

So what can we do to help our selves?

Drinking chlorinated water should obviously be avoided.
